The Progressive Careers set includes the following volumes:

* Volume 1. Nontraditional Careers: Guide to Nontraditional Occupations for Women
   and for Men
* Volume 2. STEM Careers: Guide to Occupations in Science, Technology,
   Engineering, and Mathematics
* Volume 3. High-Growth Careers: Guide to Occupations with the Best
   Opportunities
* Volume 4. Green Careers: Guide to Occupations That Benefit the Environment

This comprehensive set helps people of all ages plan or rethink their career paths for meaningful work and in-demand jobs. Progressive Careers focuses on occupations that defy traditional gender roles; that offer exciting work in science, technology, engineering, and math; that are growing at higher-than-average rates; and that make the world greener.

The four volumes provide about 250 current, extensive occupational descriptions; 750 photographs and bar charts; more than a dozen engaging sections in each job article; coverage of social, economic, and technological trends that are boosting these jobs; 1,000+ Web site listings; and the latest, most accurate data and projections through 2018.

Each occupation receives the following detailed explanation, along with graphs and a photo:

* “While at Work” describes the job in detail, including daily work tasks, working
    conditions, and alternative job titles.

* “Just the Facts” gives at-a-glance and up-to-date data on earnings, growth,
     openings, and education level required.

* “Job Fit” lists Holland personality code, career cluster, skills required, and work
    styles.

* “What’s Required” includes three subsections: “Education and Training” (formal
education requirements), “Additional Qualifications” (skills, certifications, and
other endorsements useful on the job), and “Moving Up” (potential for
     advancement).

* “Subjects to Study” addresses high school courses that are good preparation for
     the occupation.

* “College Programs to Consider” includes majors and certifications that lead to the
     job.

* “Employment” section is divided into two subheadings: “Job Prospects” and
“Income.” Graphical representations of each are provided.

* “Consider This” (3-8 per occupation) offers interesting tidbits about the job and
    related fields.

* “Other Occupations of Interest” lists the related jobs.

* “How to Learn More” includes mailing addresses and Web sites for additional
    research.

Special highlights unique to each volume include:

* Nontraditional Careers: “Road Less Traveled” discusses what makes each job
    nontraditional.

* STEM Careers: “Cutting Edge” explains advances in the field that make each job
    interesting or attractive.

* High-Growth Careers: “Why It’s Hot” describes the trends that cause each
   occupation to be high-growth.

* Green Careers: “Going Green” details what makes each job good for the
    environment.
